31 Swiss is the oil of 31 medicinal herbs in the Swiss tradition: a pure distillate of herbs and essential oils on a sweet almond oil base, in a 100 ml bottle. One product for over 200 everyday uses, from massage to aromatic baths, from household care to the air you breathe.
31 Swiss at a glance: oil of 31 medicinal herbs
- 31 medicinal herbs, distilled, on a sweet almond oil base.
- Registered in Switzerland and available to Swiss pharmacies through the official channel.
- External use: neat on the skin (a few drops), diluted in water or in a neutral oil.
- 100 ml, packs of 1, 2 or 3 bottles.
Why 31 Swiss and not another 31-herb oil
There are many 31-herb oils, but not all follow the same path. 31 Swiss is registered in Switzerland and Swiss pharmacies can order it through the official distribution channel: it is the product that, as a pharmacist, I can keep at the counter and recommend knowing where it comes from. The recipe is the classic one of the Swiss tradition, with 31 herbs and essential oils listed one by one on the label.
The 31 herbs
From the label: sweet almond (base), eucalyptus, peppermint, tarragon, star anise, silver fir, Scots pine, lemon, vetiver, lemongrass, camphor, cinnamon, patchouli, lavandin, geranium, mint (menthol), lavender, black pepper, basil, juniper, coriander, sweet orange, sage, mandarin, bergamot, field mint, litsea cubeba, clove, turpentine, Roman chamomile, fennel and myrtle.
How I use it
- Massage: a few drops diluted in a neutral oil to loosen the muscles after sport or a heavy day.
- Aromatic bath: 5–10 drops in the bath water for a relaxing or invigorating effect.
- Foot bath: a few drops in lukewarm water for tired feet.
- Sauna and shower: one drop on the stone or on the floor of a hot shower to scent the steam.
- Home air: a few drops in a diffuser or in a bowl of hot water.
- Dry skin: one drop in your usual cream for hands, elbows and heels.
- Fresh mouth: one drop in a glass of water as a rinse (do not swallow).
- Hair and scalp: one drop in your shampoo.
- Laundry and wardrobes: a few drops on a cloth in the dryer or on a cotton sachet.
- Cleaning: a few drops in the water for washing floors and surfaces.
- Travelling: the 100 ml bottle fits in your toiletry bag and replaces many products.
The scent
A fresh, herbaceous bouquet: mint, eucalyptus and citrus at the opening; then the warm notes of cinnamon, clove and anise; lavender, patchouli and vetiver at the base. It is not a sweet perfume, it is the scent of herbs.
Warnings
- For external use only. Do not swallow.
- Avoid contact with the eyes and mucous membranes; in case of contact rinse thoroughly with water.
- Do not apply to broken or irritated skin. On sensitive skin always use diluted.
- Contains essential oils and declared allergens (limonene, linalool, citral, eugenol, cinnamal, geraniol, citronellol, coumarin): if in doubt, test on a small area of skin.
- Not suitable for young children; during pregnancy and breastfeeding write to me before using it.
- Keep out of reach of children, away from heat sources and direct light.

The pharmacist's advice

I have known this recipe for decades and I keep recommending it because it is simple and versatile: one bottle at home takes care of many small everyday needs. My advice is always to start diluted and with a few drops, and to keep it in the bathroom where it is needed most often. For gut wellbeing, on the other hand, I recommend Lacbio, the lactic ferments with 15 billion cultures declared strain by strain.
